It has been handed down that the theme for the rest of the year is “to have fun.” Fresh off the annual Rural Pub Crawl, the chapter is starting a streak of social events for its members and friends. While there are still important community projects to plan and complete, the next few months of the year are for celebrating the immense amount accomplished so far in 2016.

This past month, the IDVP organized a tour of Destihl Brewery in Bloomington. If you didn’t know, Bloomington houses the Destihl Brewery, which crafts the beer that is shipped and sold around the U.S. Between Bruegala and the ID events that explored the world of spirits this year, this club is quickly becoming the studs of suds.

The Board of Directors would like to make special mention of a chapter member, Amy Wohlford. Amy was recently named one of the 20 under 40, an award within the Leaders of Distinction honors created by the McLean County Chamber of Commerce and The Pantagraph. The 20 under 40 award “recognizes young professionals who excel in their career, are passionate about the community and are making a mark in Central Illinois.”
This award singles out individuals who are likely to play a big role in shaping the future of our city. The B-N Jaycees are proud to have a recipient of this award as a member. Congratulations Amy!

2017 Board of Directors The end of 2016 is approaching (whether you realize it or not), which means preparations are being made to elect board members for 2017. In last month’s meeting, the chapter took nominations for board positions, and will do so again in the upcoming meeting on the 12th.
The only prerequisite for a board position is to be a member of the B-N Jaycees. If you would like to nominate yourself or another member for a position, or even just to learn more about the board positions, make sure to attend the meeting on the 12th.

ISU Tailgating On a crisp Saturday at the end of October, the B-N Jaycees will be hosting a tailgating spot for the Illinois State University football game against South Dakota State. The game starts at 2 p.m. and the details on the exact location and meetup time are in development, but mark your calendars!

New Meeting Location The Bloomington-Normal Jaycees will be trying out a new meeting location for the October 12th General Membership Meeting. The meetup will be at Community Health Care Clinic, which is located at 902 Franklin Ave in Normal. Drinks are BYOB, and as a special treat for the October meeting, pizza from Flingers will be provided!
We will also be continuing nominations for 2017 board members. There’s a lot of fun stuff going on as the Jaycees close out the year, looking forward to seeing everyone on the 12th!

Brews at the Zoo A representative of the Miller Park Zoological Society attended the recent general membership meeting to accept the $1,224.80 donation raised from the first Brews at the Zoo event. This is a great example of taking an idea from inception to reality and creating funds for the community that wouldn’t exist otherwise.

It would be interesting to see a group photo at the end of the night for comparison…
